Josh Kroenke is ‘Wenger Out’

This is news Arsenal fans have been waiting to hear for forever.

According to reports on Tuesday, Josh Kroenke, the son of Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, is part of the ‘Wenger Out’ camp and he’s planning for life after the Frenchman.

That news has been announced on The Transfer Window, broken by journalists Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles.

Arsenal: Go British

So is Arsene Wenger on his way out of the Gunners at the end of the season? It’s complex.

McGarry, who lead the story citing “people close to Arsenal at a high level” to back up his claims, said there’s a split in the Arsenal board over Wenger’s ongoing future.

That split appears to run into the Kroenke family itself. Board member Josh Kroenke, who has been in London over the past few months, is on the side of change, but Stan Kroenke remains a “staunch supporter” of Wenger.

The understanding, however, is that Josh’s voice carries the most weight, and it’s his vision to succeed Wenger with a British manager.

Why British? While there were overtures made about instilling a new culture at the Emirates Stadium, the real reason is money.

Sign a top manager like Carlo Ancelotti, Arsenal will have to pay a top salary with large compensation clauses.

Pick a British boss, costs are lower and the financial risk is minimised.

Stan Kroenke was labelled as being “risk averse, wasting money averse”.

Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers & Burnley’s Sean Dyche

If Arsenal do go down the British route, the two managers at the top of the list are Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers and Burnley’s Sean Dyche.

Of the two Rodgers may be seen as the safer bet. He almost won the league at Liverpool, he did great things at Swansea, while he’s broken records at Celtic.

Dyche is the more risky choice having no big club experience. Yet he could be rewarded for his incredible successes at Burnley this season, while he’s said to be “admired” by members of the Arsenal board.
