Acting head coach of Vodacom Premier League race leaders Simba SC, Masudi Djuma, has said Emmanuel Okwi was given the last chance to prove if he could stay with the team after misunderstandings arose with the management over disciplinary matter.
Ugandan born striker Okwi apologised for the delay made by him to rejoin the team after a play brether, Djuma said.
The player was allowed by the team’s management to travel to his motherland nation Uganda where he was to attend to family matters but could not make it back timely when he was needed.
Due to the in disciplinary act, Djuma struck him off the squad’s list in the Thursday encounter with Singida United played at the National Stadium in Tanzania’s commercial capital.
Lucky Okwi came from the bench in the second half only to two goals to register a 4-0 victory over Singida United.
“I told Okwi when he was at the bench that I know him as one of the best players, but if he fails to show discipline I will not tolerate him.
“That was last chance to him to prove to me and the management that he still could stay with the team, and thanks God he made it,” Djuma said.
The VPL race leader Simba have so far accumulated 29 points for the 13 matches played making two clear points with Azam FC now placed second.
